Abrie Fourie (1969 – )<\/b><\/p>\n
Born in Pretoria, South Africa, these days Abrie Fourie lives and works from Richmond in the Northern Cape of South Africa, as well as Berlin (Germany). <\/span>His practice is largely photography based, but he is also active in teaching, publishing, and curatorial projects \u2013 including a traveling exhibition of South African video art (<\/span>Mine<\/span><\/i>) \u2013 that\u2019s been shown internationally.\u00a0<\/span>He approaches image-making in a way that is “less about determining a place than about circling the relationship between spaces, signs, and the self, referring to the quiet tension between absence and presence, abstraction and reality.”<\/span>Abrie has had solo exhibitions in Europe, USA, and South Africa and he\u2019s also taken part in important group exhibitions around the world.\u00a0<\/span>He has held the position of artistic direction for Modern Art Projects South Africa and lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":547,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"class_list":["post-544","artist","type-artist","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
