She graduated from the Michaelis School of Fine Art in 1998 with a master&#8217;s degree in fine art. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Her work as sculptor reveals diminutive carved and painted wooden figures that reflect the ambiguity she experiences in the search for an \u2018African\u2019 identity in South Africa\u2019s post-apartheid era.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As a perfectionist, Schreuders works slowly and indulges in the process. She starts off by making informal, thumbnail sketches on small pieces of paper. Her first series of etchings was a record of some of her favourite existing sculptures and she likes to keep these as a reminder of her work.\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shreuders has had several solo exhibitions \u2013 both in South Africa and abroad, including one that toured the United States.
