Samson Mnisi
Samson Mnisi (1971 - 2022) Samson Mnisi, also known as ‘Rainmaker’, was born in Lesotho and lived in Soweto. He studied fine art and photography at FUBA Academy and participated in many group and solo exhibitions, both locally and internationally. Samson saw his art as a symbolic language of abstract thought and used patterns, lines, symbols, and colour to find a contemporary South African expression. He believed that through art, emotions can be evoked and even healed. Known worldwide for his remarkable abstract paintings, he is considered a pioneer of an African Art language. His death occurred suddenly, the day after the grand opening of his last solo show titled 'Man Of The Hour' in Johannesburg.
