Harambee

It means all together

At Nando’s, we believe in championing young people – they are our future. Which is why we’re trying to tackle youth unemployment in South Africa!

Harambee is the name of our award-winning partnership, challenging youth unemployment in South Africa. We find promising sparks and light the fire in their bellies, giving them career opportunities and training that builds resilience and skills for their future!

STATISTICS SHOW THAT IF A YOUNG PERSON KEEPS THEIR FIRST JOB FOR A YEAR, THEY’RE 85% MORE LIKELY TO BE IN WORK FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE.

Since 2012, we’ve hired more than 3,000 Nandocas through Harambee in South Africa – that’s a lot of firepower!

Everyone is
welcome at
our table!

Our passion for people influences our entire business. From the USA to South Africa, we’re helping young people find their feet.

Project Generation in the USA, for example, unites all Nando’s Washington restaurants in a mission to remove many of the barriers to employment some young people face. The project helps candidates face issues such as access to transport, childcare, or a gap on their cv, and looks to hire Nandocas for one key attribute: a positive attitude. We work with entry-level Nandocas once they’re hired to launch a lasting career in hospitality with training programmes, coaching and feedback all designed to aid their personal and professional development!

Their happiness is shining through in their work!
